WE NEED NEW POLITICIANS
Seriously why do we keep electing these people whose idea of fixing budget problems is making us pay more. Why is the MTA always in a budget deficit?
Why do they just decide to cut service and hike fares instead of looking into ways to cut money?
Since we apparently have such a budget crisis in addition to the ongoing economic crisis, I want to know why we don’t at least temporarily, stop these capital programs until we can get federal or state aid for these projects. I only live in this city, and since I have a job, I guess I’m expected to pay for every crazy idea the mta concocts. It’s getting to the point where people are just going to have to leave the city and move into the rest of the country. We understand that it’s expensive here, but are we supposed to give up all our money because we have politicians and boards that have nothing but self interest and dollar signs in their eyes. I live in New York City and since Brooklyn made the unfortunate decision to join with the city in 1898 we are a part of it.
I shouldn’t have to pay to enter manhattan. They say its to raise money for the mta, but is that even legal. Not only that, they spent 400 million to rename the triboro bridge after Robert Kennedy. HE’S FROM MASSACHUSETTS. LET THEM SPEND THAT MUCH TO NAME A BRIDGE THAT ALREADY HAS A NAME.
So lets say they go ahead and WASTE MONEY to put up tolls on the east river, are they going to take down those tolls when we are in a surplus. THey’ve never taken down the tolls from the Verezzano Bridge and the toll, if you call that price a toll, is up to a whopping 10 bucks a car. They want to raiiiiiiiiise tolls. When is it enough, when are these people ever going to be satisfied with the money they’ve raised.
THEY WILL NEVER TAKE DOWN THESE TOLLS IF THEY PUT THEM UP. not only will they never take down these tolls, but say they start with 4 bucks, hmmmmm not so bad, well next year we need to make it 5, oh that’s only a dollar more, well what about when it costs you 15 bucks to get across a bridge, which is where the Verezzano bridge is heading. I’d say it’s time to move off one of the islands that make up nyc.
For the love of god don’t let the politicians tax the life out of this city. We live here and you can’t live when your being charged for everything.
THIS IS NOT ENGLAND. WE DON”T WANT TO BE TAXED FOR EVERYTHING.
what are they going to do next institute a walking tax, and we all have to have licenses so they can charge us for that.
Immediate Pressing Concerns
May I just say that we can’t let this election get our heads away from the everyday issues we have to worry about. People are getting shot on a daily basis, politicians are stealing our right to vote on an issue ( Bloomberg, so chill anyone who thought I was speaking about someone else), and energy companies jacking up prices cause they can’t bilk us for high electric prices.
First things first. These politicians stealing our rights. Bloomberg had no right to do what he did by signing that 3rd term into law. He is a bully in its finest form. When he thinks he’s getting his way he has what can only be described as a cheshire grin on that tight face of his. People rail and yell and talk to him about how they disagree with what he does and all he can do is sit there believing that these people don’t know anything and that he knows better. Mayor Bully is aiming for a third term and conveniently only decided he was needed for a third term when it was too late, and conveniently Christine Quinn whose own scandal this past year wouldn’t have gotten her elected Mayor has decided that it is for the benefit of New Yorkers that the council vote on our behalf to let her have another chance in office.
If they want a job for life, then take a job with no time limits or try to change the law the lawful way.
We are told conserve, conserve, conserve, and while we’re conserving companies are not required to. They don’t get tickets in this city for not recycling. Con Ed wants to raise our rates for electricity because we’re not using as much electricity and they’re not getting enough money.
Now Delta Airlines is charging people to bring the one bag that so far has been free. I mean we’re already being overcharged and taxed to death, this is just one more thing that is designed to suck the money right out of our pockets. I should just stop working cause all my money is getting sucked out by fees and taxes.
With regards to Con-Ed when they want to give top quality service ( Queens residents you know what I’m talking about) then they can do what they wish, but when they tell us to conserve and then punish us for conserving they send the totally wrong message.
Judges Ruling regarding Bloomberg’s third term
Okay does it bother anyone else but me that the judge made the ruling over the third term in an hour. It takes me longer than that to decide if I want to buy a pair of shoes, and that only goes on my feet.
The Judge ruled that the Mayor and the City Council could vote to extend the term limits to the third term.
City Lawyers argued that it was no different than zoning laws or lowering taxes ( WHICH I MIGHT ADD THEY HAVE ONLY RAISED AND NOT LOWERED TAXES)
If I tried to do something in the spirit that the city council and mayor have, I would be thrown in jail.
I feel that if the Mayor and the City Council do one more thing to serve their own interests and not ours, than lets show our displeasure in the polls.

NYC COUNCIL, Bloomberg and the THIRD TERMMMMMM
We’ve all heard of the Third Term. This extra length of time that for the time being remains off limits to the council and the mayor for the time being.
What is it about this third term that’s so desired and yet so feared? Term limits were first brought into NYC in 1993 by the voters. THE VOTERS. The VOTERS also decided again in 1996 to continue these term limits.
In a major city like NYC shouldn’t we #1 let the voters decide since they were the ones who decided to keep these term limits in effect.
Obviously we would have the benefit when it comes to the mayor of having a businessman in control of the city while the country is in the midst of a financial crisis. Yet the city should be in good hands no matter whether Bloomberg stays in Office or not. Unlike the rest of the country, or even the rest of New York State the city had already undergone a fiscal crisis so horrible that it is mandated that the city have a balanced budget each year.
May I also say that do we really need four more years of crazy schemes. I don’t know about you but I am a little unsettled that the Speaker of the Council had a special fund from which she could dish out money. Also let us not forget the absurd amount of building going on which was clearly not meant for a clear majority of New Yorkers and the 25 year tax breaks that those buildings don’t have to pay but the average New Yorker will.
Let us also review some of Bloomberg good and bad decisions
Good Decision: the addition of bike lanes and new park land
Bad Decision: the 2012 olympics that no one seemed to want
Good Decision???
Bad Decision: Trying to force the West Side Stadium down our throats and make us pay for it, literally and congestion wise
Now let us also remember that despite the fact that he was willing to cause massive congestion with the olympics and the stadium he then tried to force us to pay to enter the city to eliminate a very few cars from the city.
I feel that if he really felt concern for the city he would have acknowledged a while ago that he intended to seek from the voters permission to alter the city laws and extend term limits to three terms instead of trying to railroad the city into following his viewpoint and using a city council that has its own interest at heart to force a change in city law.
Please if anyone has any common sense, please ask yourselves why you would want a mayor and city council that doesn’t even bother to ask if you still feel the same way you did in 1993 and ‘96 and is going to do what they want to get their way.

Hi I know I haven’t kept this topic up for a while, too busy fighting neighborhood politics.
Anyway
The word for today is actually a greeting: Good Morning
Hebrew: Boker Tov (Boh-Ker Tohv) Both o’s have the oh sounds
Spanish: Buenos Dias (Bwehnos Diahs)
Destroying the neighborhood a little more at a time
I come home from a trip to find out it has been decided that a light will be put up at my corner, why is Helen Weinstein trying to turn my neighborhood into manhattan. We do not need lights on every corner. When you put lights up in a small low-key neighborhood, all you do is motivate people to speed through to get past the next lightor it clogs up streets while people wait for a light to turn green even though there are absolutely no cars coming.
T-Mobile
Is it me or is anyone else getting slammed with huge overage charges.
Now I remember when I first got my t-mobile plan the great benefit of it was that I could talk to all my friends who had t-mobile for free. Since we all had t-mobile we wouldn’t have to worry about getting charged for gabbing for hours.
Now t-mobile has its my 5 where you could pick your most called people and get free calling to them for a charge. Now i’m being told that I never had mobile to mobile. Does anyone else smell horse manure?
Now I wish I had saved my bills from 2004 that showed that I had 400 mobile to mobile calls and 400 regular calls. Anyone wanna explain why i never got overage charges if I only had 600 minutes and no mobile to mobile calling.
Also isn’t it handy dandy that since there was supposedly never any mobile to mobile calling that now they have a 6 dollar plan to give these mobile to mobile minutes.
It’s bad enough we’re paying more for rent, gas, food, it figures that the cell phones companies would need a little more.
I’m also being told that a service that was done for me in the past wasn’t supposed to be done, if that was the case how come it was done more than 3 times.
Hey t-mobile, thanks for nothing.
